Friday Fictioneers: The Spectator

Rochelle Wisoff-Fields provided the following photo prompt this week for Friday Fictioneers. She also encouraged us to stay within the 100-word-limit. So here it is –

I hear the teapot whistling behind me and hesitate. Down below is a parade. Not the spectacular kind with floats and clowns. This is more a procession and less a moving carnival. People are walking and waving. Cars decorated with blankets of flowers slowly cruise along the street. People gather on the sidewalk to watch. It is unexpected. There wasn’t any advertisement or anouncement over the satellite news.  I should go turn the burner off. Yet, here it is. The main car preceded by the Special Guard. The people are shouting “Hail the Duke, the king is dead!”

word count: 98
